Tottenham Hotspur coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has revealed that the Carabao Cup new policy on away goals forced his team out of the competition, after they were  beaten on penalty shoot out by Chelsea on Thursday night

 

With pochettino’s team leading the West London club 1-0 from the first leg, first half strikes from N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard  put Maurizio Sarri’s team ahead of the visitors at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs striker, Fernando Llorente scored a header from Danny Rose left cross to level the score to 2-2 on aggregate, but Eric Dier and Moura missed from their penalty shoot out to give the blues a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win

 

The competition Previous policies and rules would have seen Tottenham win at the 2-2 aggregate score with away goals, but the competition changed its policies this season.

 

I think it’s the new rules that forced my team out of the competition, pochetinno said. We tried our best to reach the last two of the competition but the new rules is beyond us.

 

Chelsea deserve the win, Congratulations to the blues, Spurs manager, Mauricio pochettini admitted.

 

The North London club has three more competitions, we played with one of the best and lost to them, one of the best club in Europe.

 

I’m really excited with our performance against Maurizio Sarri’s team, the boys played the second leg tie in high spirit, but the new carabao cup rules was beyond us.

 

In other competition’s in Europe, if a team scores an away goal and it’s 2-2 at the end of 180 minutes, I think the club who nets away qualifies to the next round of the competition, but here they changed the rules and now we’re out the Carabao cup due to penalties.

 

I’m proud of my team, we have good players and squad, the performance was superb against the host club, but I think the best team qualifies.
